KUCHING: A total of 673 families in Beluru and Subis, two districts in Miri were affected by flood yesterday.
In a press statement issued yesterday, the State Disaster Management Committee revealed that there were about 436 families from the Beluru district and 237 families from Subis district. Meanwhile, four schools out of 27 schools affected by flood in Sarawak were closed due to floods.
The four schools were SK Sg Bong and SK Kuala Bok in Baram, SK Sg Ng Bon, Sibu and SK Kuala Kenyana, Mukah.
The other 23 schools that were also hit by floods but remained open were SK Sg Genaan, Sebauh, SK Sg Kelabit and Sk Sungai Seputi in Miri, SK Pengarah Enteri, SK Sungai Peking, SK Long Teru, SK Sungai Bain and SK Benawa in Baram, SK Sg Anak, SK Sg. Buloh and SK Iban Union in Selangau, SK Ulu Bawan and SK Sungai Tuah in Kanowit, SK Ulu Segan in Bintulu, SK Kpg Bulau, SK Kampung Tegageng, SK Rumah Ranggong, SK Sg Manang and SK RH Goyang in Subis, SK Rumah Keseng, SK Kuala Muput and SK Nanga Tau in Tatau. The number of those who involved totalled 2541 students, 370 teachers and 185 non-academic staff.
