MIRI: Some 233 people in two longhouses in Subis District have been cut off by floodwaters that inundated their main road.
The floods are said to be a result of continuous rainfall since the start of this week.
The affected longhouses are Rumah Akit @ Chaluk (29 doors) with 81 villagers and Rumah Webster Rangkong Jalan Suai (41 doors) with 152 villagers.
The Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) disaster management committee has stated that no evacuation has been conducted thus far, as the situation is still under control.
However, villagers have been advised to remain vigilant and evacuate to higher ground if necessary.
A team from the Miri APM has been deployed to both locations to monitor the flood situation.
Currently, the floodwater level at Rumah Akit @ Chaluk is reported to be at four feet high, while at Rumah Webster it is around half a foot.
