KUCHING: Some 125 residents from 23 homes in Sri Aman and Betong were affected by floodwaters on Thursday (June 18).

Twenty residents and four houses in Kampung Tuai Rumah Umbik, Jalan Kejatau were affected by floodwaters, which made roads inaccessible.

In Ulu Layar, the situation was under control while Kampung Lalang, Kampung Babu and Kampung Bungin were being monitored.

According to villagers, floodwaters started to rise around 8.30am in Kampung Babu, Kampung Bungey and Kampung Lalang (Debak).

Meanwhile in Spaoh, 32 residents from eight houses in Kampung Bungi were affected by water as high as three feet. Many moved to homes of their nearest relatives.

Floodwaters in Kampung Dayak Baru, Jalan Kejatau affected 32 residents from five houses.

No evacuation of residents was carried out by the Fire and Rescue Department so far.
