SIBU: Malaysians, especially civil servants, have been urged to fly the ‘Jalur Gemilang’ proudly as a sign of love for the country in conjunction with National Month.

In making the call, Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng said the spirit of patriotism should be instilled with a strong heart, solid integrity and a high work ethic.

He was speaking at the ‘Semarak Merdeka programme 2023, Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang’ (KMJG) here Wednesday (Aug 9).

He said the motto of Hari Kebangsaan Hari Malaysia 2023, “Madani Malaysia, Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan” clearly proves that the interweaving of cooperation and the spirit of unity among federal and state departments and agencies has been ingrained since the independence of Malaysia and Sarawak.

“We must make sure that this synergy will continue to remain intact and strong because we are the pillar and catalyst to the government to realise the country’s socio-economic development.

“We must mobilise energy to mobilise every planning and  future plan in line with the transformation of the digital world to make Malaysia a reknown country from all aspects of economy, social,  digital, governance and the well-being of its people.
