KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Youth will focus on playing a proactive role in ensuring the state is safe from the threat of Covid-19 pandemic.
Its Youth chief Michael Tiang emphasised that this was the time for SUPP youths to walk the talk by going down to the ground to fight the pandemic for the sake of fellow Sarawakians and safeguarding the state.
“I believe by doing a good job in Covid-19 vaccinations, the rakyat will be confident that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)/SUPP is the political leadership that truly protects and safeguards Sarawak, while casting their votes in the coming state election,” he said today (June 24).
He said as far as SUPP Youth was concerned, the upcoming state election was the last thing on their agenda while their members continued to participate in various programmes to combat the pandemic, especially during the movement control order (MCO) period.
“Many of our youths are now assisting in the vaccination centres (PPVs) throughout the state to ensure that Phase 2 of our national vaccination programme – that is, vaccinations for senior citizens – is successful,” he said.
Tiang said, for instance, SUPP youths had managed to assist the Sibu PPV at Sibu Indoor Stadium by submitting to the centre 467 names of senior citizens who either changed their minds about the vaccination or missed their previous appointment.
“Our youths have also helped members of the public in vaccination registration drives through their own social circles,” he pointed out.
