MUKAH: Every party member should not be too focused on seizing positions in the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Tellian branch or Balingian branch.

This is because as a whole, it is important to move forward based on the main agenda of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

This was said by the head of the PBB Balingian Branch who is also the Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi when speaking at the Opening Ceremony of the Triennial Delegates Meeting of the PBB Balingian branch at Kingwood Resort yesterday.

“The PBB Tellian and Balingian branches have been known to be the party strongholds since they were established. So my message to all members of the PBB is to continue to play a role in fighting for the party for political stability in the state.

“To all the branches, kindly take care and be polite to every member of the PBB so that they feel appreciated and continue to be accepted as contributors to the strength of our party and together in fighting for the development of Sarawak,” he added.

Meanwhile, Abdul Yakub Arbi also voiced his support for the proposal by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg regarding the establishment of the branch’s Youth wing which will be proposed in the party’s general meeting in June.

“At that time, youth between 18 and 28 years old will be gathered are to be told to be directly involved in the political development agenda at the grassroots level.

“This platform is very relevent with the implementation of the voter eligibility age of 18 years as well as the automatic voter registration which has been in effect in the last Johor state election.

“This initiative clearly shows that PBB will never leave the various age groups of society to contribute through this new wing.

“With this new wing, we are confident that the PBB will become stronger to remain relevant as a stable party in Sarawak,” he added.

Also present to officiate at the meeting was PBB deputy president and Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan. Those in attendance included PBB executive secretary Datuk Awang Bujang Awang Antek, Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine and former Tellian assemblyman Yusibnosh Balo.
