SIBU: Students should develop multilingual ability, creative thinking ability, self-discipline, interpersonal relationship ability and moral judgment.

Speaking at SJK(C) Tung Hua’s academic and co-curriculum appreciation ceremony held yesterday, its chairman of the board of management, Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau Lee Ming, encouraged students to seize every learning opportunity and enrich themselves to prepare for the challenges of modern society.

“Each complete learning stage is to create a good foundation for future learning,” Lau said.

He also acknowledged the hard work of the school’s past and present headmasters, teachers, school management board members, alumni association members, and parents, which contributed to the success of the school.

Lau also referred to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s statement that the closure of vernacular schools did not promise the success of national school education.

“As we all know, the syllabus in vernacular schools is determined by the Malaysian Ministry of Education just like the national schools,” Lau said, adding that instead of closing vernacular schools, it would be better if national schools were improved.
