MIRI: All kindergarten operators have been reminded to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) including disinfecting their premises and ensuring social distancing.
Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah gave the advice yesterday morning (Wednesday, July 1) after conducting a brief visit to Tadika Astana in Piasau here.
She said the kindergarten operators must follow the SOPs laid down by the government to ensure the safety of the children.
“Those who fail to comply will be ordered to shut down immediately … we cannot compromise when it comes to our children’s safety and health,” she stressed.
A total of 236 registered kindergartens in the state reopened yesterday (July 1) after nearly three months of closure following the Covid-19 pandemic.
Fatimah was satisfied with the SOP compliance by Tadika Astana.
“It has also adjusted the classrooms to accommodate certain numbers of students so that there will not be overcrowding,” she said.
“Sharing of learning equipment and food boxes is definitely not allowed,” she added.
Fatimah said her ministry would be monitoring the kindergartens to ensure that the operators complied with the SOPs laid down by the government,
During her visit, Fatimah was accompanied by her deputy, Rosey Yunus.
