KUCHING: SUPP Youth Central secretary-general Milton Foo yesterday questioned whether Pakatan Harapan (PH) Stampin Member of Parliament Chong Chieng Jen was telling the truth.

He was referring to Chong’s press statement last Wednesday in which he said the PH government would fulfil its promises to the people as stated in its manifesto during the last general election.

“If PH Sarawak truly speaks for the people of Sarawak as Chong claimed in the statement, where is the 20 percent oil royalty and 50 percent tax revenue collected from Sarawak mentioned in their manifesto?” Foo asked.

He reminded Chong that they are no longer the opposition but the federal government of the day that not only can formulate policies but also implement them for the benefit of the people.

Flood mitigation, said Foo, is another example of an unfulfilled promise by PH government.  On December 11 last year Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii said a RM150-million fund would be released this year by the federal government for flash flood mitigation projects in Kuching which include upgrading the drainage system at Sarawak General Hospital, Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, Padang Merdeka, Lintang Park Utara, Lorong

Lintang Park Selatan I, Jalan Ellis, Jalan Padungan and Tabuan Dayak. “To date, nothing concrete has happened and not a single tender has been called by the relevant federal government agency for the said projects.

“Instead of playing politics all the time, I urge Chong to do his work such as to lower the prices of goods. “As a representative for Sarawak in the federal government he should always fight vigorously for the state,” said Foo.
