KUCHING: A total of 844 households in seven villages here recently received food aid from the state government.
According to Penghulu Jakup Buan, the food aid was for hardcore poor families from the B40 group who were facing difficulties due to the movement control order (MCO).
The seven villages are Kampung Stampin Baru, Kampung Lubuk Buan, Kampung Sg Tapang, Kampung Temedek, Kampung Stampin, Kampung Stutong and Taman BDC /Satria Jaya.
“The food baskets were received from the Kuching Resident’s Office in batches in the past few days,” he said.
Jakup told that 124 households in Kampung Stampin Baru received the food aid while 74 households in Kampung Lubuk Buan, 245 in Kampung Sg Tapang, 48 in Kampung Temedek, 155 in Kampung Stampin, 125 in Kampung Stutong and 73 in Taman BDC /Satria Jaya also received theirs.
The Iban community leader thanked the state government for the initiative.
