BINTULU: More than 6,000 households within the Kakus constituency affected by the movement control order (MCO) from June 6 to 13 received food baskets under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) 6.0.

Nearly 40 longhouses in the area have been identified as collection points to enable villagers to collect their food assistance without having to travel far, said Native Laws and Customs Assistant Minister Datuk John Sikie Tayai on Friday.

Sikie also expressed his appreciation to those who signed up as volunteers to help distribute the food baskets.

The distribution of food baskets under BKSS 6.0 has been established by the state government to ease the burden of the rakyat during MCO period to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We are very fortunate to have volunteers who willingly stepped forward in helping to distribute the food assistance to villagers,” Sikie said.
