BELURU: Residents affected by the recent flooding here have received food assistance from the Miri Division Social Welfare Department (JKM).
The delivery of food was done by the staff of the Beluru District Office, the Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM), the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA).
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) on Monday (Feb 7), the food aid was delivered on Saturday (Feb 5) and Sunday (Feb 6).
Express boats were used to deliver the food aid to the downstream area of Sungai Tinjar to Rumah Langat, Rumah Joseph, Rumah James, Rumah Labang, Rumah Seman, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kuala Bok, SK Long Teru and SK Long Sepiling, Tinjar.
Meanwhile, those residing in the Bakong and Ulu Teru areas, received food via land transport.
Floodwaters have since receded with good weather prevailing over the past few days.
