MUKAH: Some 160 food baskets were delivered to residents in Kampung Sitieng in the upper reaches of Batang Mukah who were affected by the recent floods.

Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi was present to hand over the food aid to the villagers.

“I hope the assistance would lessen the burden faced by the affected residents,” he said in simple handover ceremony in Sebakong near here on Tuesday (Feb 9).

Abdul Yakub hoped that the residents in Kampung Sitieng and Kuala Kenyana continue to be patient in facing challenges resulting from natural disasters such as floods.

Mukah division Welfare Department officer Haslinda Supu, Dominic Anju from Mukah district office as well as representatives from the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela), Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Agriculture Department, and Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM) also attended the event.
