SELANGAU: Medan Selera Selangau, which is awaiting construction, has the potential to be another attraction here.

In stating this Tamin Assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang said the government had approved an allocation to the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) for the construction of the food court in 2018.

“SRDC is still waiting for the Land and Survey Department to approve the food court site,” he said, adding, “we have to go through certain procedures before carrying out construction, that’s
why it takes time to build.”

Gira said this while officiating at the Gawai Selangau Bazaar organised by Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Ramin Division Women’s Movement in collaboration with SRDC on Friday.

“Usually a Gawai Dayak bazaar is held every year but this stopped in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This activity received a good response from 38 stalls operated by Iban traders. The organisers have also planned several cultural events that will take place from May 13 to 28,” he said.
