MIRI: Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak secretary, Senator Alan Ling, continued his round of donation of face masks, hand sanitisers and mineral water to food delivery riders around this city yesterday.
Ling reached out to the food delivery riders under ‘Hungry Delivery System’ to express his gratitude for their honourable services for the community during this challenging movement control order (MCO) period.
“Despite having very limited resources, we continue to donate to the frontliners to keep them safe as they are among those who risk Covid-19 infection in the line of work,” said Ling.
Even though they have to deliver food on time, Ling hoped that the riders would continuously take stringent safety measures and maintain high level of hygiene including putting on face masks and other protective gear.
Last Sunday, Ling reached out to a few food delivery services including Foodpanda, GrabFood, McDelivery, and Excapade at Bintang Megamall and McDonald’s Petronas Station to distribute face masks, bread and bottles of mineral water.
It is learnt that the demand for food delivery has surged during the MCO period and so the riders have increased workload compared to before. This has caught Ling’s attention.
“I realised that some of them are short of face masks as there is acute shortage in the market. I hope my small deed will help them a bit,” he said.
Ling was accompanied last Sunday by his special assistant, Lawrence Low; person-in-charge of ‘Hungry Food Delivery’, Ting Kung Ping; and chief rider Khairul Hairy.
Ting said he was grateful to Ling for his concern for the company’s riders and he promised to ensure that all the riders maintained high standard of cleanliness while discharging their duties.
