MIRI: A total of 578 food packages were sent to 12 flood-affected areas in Tinjar region in Baram using an express boat on Monday (Sept 21).

According to Miri Fire and Rescue Department chief Law Poh Kiong, the supplies were brought by the Welfare Department (JKM) accompanied by three personnel from Lopeng fire Station.

“Their destinations were Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Long Teran, Long Teran Clinic, Kampung Long Teran Kiri, Long Teran Kanan, Long Teran Kanan B, Long Teran Batu, Rumah Jarau Long Tabing, Rumah Joben Long Tabing, Rumah Francis Ubi Long Jegan, SK Long Jegan, Long Jegan Clinic and Rumah Dennis Long Jegan.

“Also participating in the operation was Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, who is also Marudi assemblyman,” he said.

Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) spokesman said that as of 3pm on Monday, four areas in Miri were still reported to be flooded.

However, based on a report, only Long Teru in Baram was still at alert level.
