KUCHING: The federal government has been asked to decide quickly on whether the Works Ministry will take over the Pan Borneo Highway project in Sarawak.
Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing said Putrajaya via Works Minister Baru Bian has been saying for months that the Works Ministry would take over the highway project, but there is still no outcome till today.
“I am fed up with the Works Ministry’s snail pace decision on the Pan Borneo Highway project,” he said.
He added that procrastinating over whether the Works Ministry would take over was not helping the contractors.
“Either the Works Ministry takes over or let Public Works Department (JKR) do the job of over seeing the job, but do it quickly.
“This is so that the contractors can do their jobs quickly without having to worry over what is going to happen next,” he stressed.
Masing reiterated, “For goodness sake, please decide quickly.”
On Friday, Baru Bian said the federal cabinet was expected to decide whether the Works Ministry would take over the Pan Borneo Highway project by the end of this month.
Currently, the Sarawak section of the Pan Borneo highway project is supervised by project delivery partner (PDP), Lebuhraya Borneo Utara Sdn Bhd (LBU).
