LAWAS: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is a party that places Sarawak’s interest first and is fighting to protect Sarawak’s rights.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief Gerald Rentap Jabu said the coalition partners namely PBB, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) are firm about defending Sarawak’s rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“We must stand firm and not let outsiders invade us and disturb our rights,” he said during the GPS Flag Rally at the Hotel Seri Malaysia’s compound in Lawas here yesterday.

He said four important issues related to Sarawak’s rights that GPS must prioritised are immigration autonomy, strengthening Sarawak’s rights based on the Constitution, both federal and state, the state’s sovereignty, and protection of the state’s borders.

“Sarawak’s future lies in the hands of fellow Sarawakians; if we don’t defend our rights, our future generations will not be able to see the seed of growth planted by the leaders,” he stressed.

“Without you all, especially the older generations, we will not be here. And today we are no longer with BN, but we have our own entity that is called GPS,” he pointed out.

He further said the launch of GPS logo by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg marked the beginning of a new chapter in the political history of Sarawak.

The logo represented the rise and coming together f the four component parties whose common objective is to defend Sarawak’s rights.

“I feel very touched and happy, we have come a long way and we will work together in protecting this fair land of Sarawak.”

On another note, in remembrance of the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem who passed away two years ago, Gerald said GPS under the leadership of Johari would continue with Adenan’s legacy, which is to defend Sarawak and Sarawakians until the end.
