SARIKEI: Narcotics police have arrested three individuals, including a foreign woman, for alleged possession of various drugs worth over RM16,000.
Sarikei police chief Supt Aswandy Anis said the arrests were made during a raid on a house around 11 am on Monday (June 24).
The team arrested two locals, a 32-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman, along with a 42-year-old Indonesian woman.
“Further inspections in the house and in a car parked in the garage, led to the discovery of 387 Erimin 5 pills weighing 109.9g, two plastic packets of Ecstasy mixture powder weighing 83.50g, ketamine weighing 28g and 18 Ecstasy pills weighing 7.3g.
“The drugs, with a combined total weight of 228.7g and a total seizure value of RM16,780.80, were seized as evidence,” he said.
All three suspects, together with the seized drugs, were taken to Sarikei district police headquarters (IPD) for interrogation.
Aswandy added that the local suspects tested positive for drugs.
The suspects will be remanded for six days to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Upon conviction, this charge carries the death penalty or life imprisonment with at least 12 lashes of the cane.
