MIRI: A foreign man is among three suspects detained by Miri Narcotic police during a two-day ‘Ops Tapis Khas’ carried out from last Monday to Tuesday, with drugs, believed to be syabu, weighing 10.6 grammes and worth RM2,220 seized.
According to Miri Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the operations were carried out in Bakam, Bekenu and Batu Niah.
In the first raid, police seized drugs believed to be syabu weighing 5.1 grammes with a street value of RM1,020.00, following a raid held at an unnumbered house in Batu Niah.
“During this raid which was held at 5 pm, police detained a foreign man to assist in our investigations on the case,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation conducted at a house in Bakam at around 11 am, two local men were detained following the discovery of illegal substances, believed to be syabu weighing at 5.5 grammes.
Both cases are being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
