BINTULU: Police here yesterday caught a foreign man who was suspected to be involved in distributing and abusing drugs.
Bintulu district police chief Supt Batholomew Umpit confirmed that a 44-year-old male foreigner was arrested in the vicinity of Jalan Keppel, here.
“Upon his arrest, police found out that the man was involved with distributing as well as abusing drugs.
“Among the items that were seized were 5.2 grams of methamphetamine. A urine test also found that the suspect was positive for both amphetamine and methamphetamine,” said the local police chief.
The suspect is being investigated under Section 39A (1) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
This arrest is one of the police’s efforts in overcoming the problem of drug abuse, as well as preventing criminal activities in the Bintulu district.
Batholomew advised public members with any information related to drugs in this district to urgently inform the Bintulu police at 086-318304.
