Foreigner dies after falling from Level 11

SIBU: A 40-year-old Filipino man succumbed to serious head injuries after falling down from Level 11 of the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) multi-storey car park at Jalan Wong Nai Siong here this evening.

Fire and Rescue Department Zone 4 chief, Andy Alie said his department received a distress call at about 5.21 pm concerning a man who was clinging onto a lamp post.  

“The man, believed to be in his 40s, was then acting abnormally and threatened to jump off,” he said in a statement today.

Andy said that the firefighters tried to coax the man to calm down but he let go of his hands.

“The firefighters tried to catch him but failed as he fell to the concrete walkway below,” he said.

Paramedics pronounced the man died on the spot.
