KUCHING: A Thai woman was sentenced to a RM3,000 fine, in default of four months’ imprisonment, by the Magistrate’s Court for being involved in prostitution at a budget hotel on Jalan Ban Hock early this month.

Miss Nongnapas, 34, pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 372B of the Penal Code, which was read before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi today.

According to the charges, she was accused of the offense at a budget hotel on Jalan Ban Hock at about 5 pm on August 1.

At the time of the incident, the complainant was a police officer who received a message from an undercover police personnel about prostitution activities at a budget hotel.

A raid was carried out, which led to Nongnapas’ arrest for conducting prostitution activities in a room.

Additionally, there was a bargain between her and the undercover policeman with a payment rate of RM150.

The prosecution of the case was handled by Prosecuting Officer Inspector Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin, while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
