MIRI: The body of a foreign worker was found hanged with a wire around his neck inside the workers’ quarters of an oil palm plantation in Sungai Uban Bekenu, on Wednesday evening.

According to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah when contacted on Thursday, the body of the Indonesian man from Lombok province was discovered by one of the estate’s administration staff around 5.30pm on Wednesday.

“She immediately called the police and ambulance for help,” said Lim.

The body has been taken to Miri Hospital for a post-mortem.

“The deceased was said to have been having problems with his wife and had expressed his desire to return to his home country two days prior to his death,” said Lim.

Preliminary investigation carried out at the scene ruled out elements of foul play.

“At the moment, the case is being classified as sudden death,” said Lim.
