BINTULU: Narcotic police here arrested a young foreign lad for alleged involvement in drug distribution activity yesterday.
Bintulu district police chief Supt Batholomew Umpit said the 23-year-old suspect was detained for inspection at the Kidurong Industrial area.
During inspections, the police managed to seize five straw tubes containing drugs believed to be syabu from the suspect.
Both the suspect and the drugs weighing 5.1g, were taken to the police station for further action.
Umpit said the suspect would be investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act after he was tested positive for drugs.
Apart from narcotics offences, the suspect will also be investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for not having any valid travel documents.
