BINTULU: Narcotics police arrested a foreign man on yesterday (Sept 16) for allegedly possessing suspected syabu intended for distribution.

Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali in a statement said the 33-year-old suspect was picked up in front of a hotel along Jalan Pedada.

“During the arrest, the police seized a plastic packet containing suspected syabu weighing 5.1gramme

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the drugs were meant to be distributed to about 20 users around Kemena and Ulu Sebauh areas,” he said.

The suspect, who tested positive for methamphetamine, is being investigated under Section 39A (1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

In addition, he will be investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/53 for lacking valid travel document.

Nixon stated that this arrest was part of a continuous effort to combat drug abuse and prevent criminal activities in Bintulu.
