LUNDU: Six foreign men were ordered to return to their country of origin after being caught entering Sarawak illegally on Wednesday (Nov 20).
The First Infantry Division reported that a team of Malaysian and Indonesian soldiers encountered the group walking into the state from the Indonesian border at 4.30 pm in Biawak.
“All of them, aged between 23 and 38, were detained for inspection after entering the country through an illegal route, about 68 metres from the border.
“Examinations found no prohibited or dangerous items among their possessions, except for a sum of cash, phones, wallets, and clothing, with a total value of RM3,651.90,” the division said.
Following the checks, the foreigners were escorted to the state border and deported back to Indonesia.
The army affirmed its commitment to strengthening border control and safeguarding the state’s sovereignty against illegal entries and cross-border crimes.
