KUCHING: Persatuan Kebajikan Islam Jabatan Hutan Sarawak (Perkijap) recently distributed bubur lambuk (savoury porridge) to frontliners, welfare institutions and members of the public.
Perkijap, in a statement on Monday (May 10), revealed that the programme including iftar with staff of Sarawak Forest Department on duty in Sarawak Forest Headquarters and Federal Forest Department was organised concurrently throughout the state.
It added that the distribution of bubur lambuk to the frontliners including the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and hospital staff was to show appreciation for their efforts as well as contributions, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Its advisor and Sarawak Forest Department director Datuk Hamden Mohammad said the programme was one of the department’s annual activities.
“The programme was funded by contributions made by our staff along with donations received from individuals, non-governmental organisation (NGOs) and companies which supply food and drinks as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.
“The preparation and distribution of the bubur lambuk were done by our staff through bergotong-royong,” he said.
Hamden added that the programme symbolised the importance of sharing sustenance given by God with others, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
“We hope that we are able to cheer up others, particularly those who are less fortunate,” he said.
