KUCHING: More than 2,000 runners are expected to take part in the Kuching-level Forest Fun Run to be flagged off at the Sarawak State Library (Pustaka) on Nov 3.
According to Sarawak Forest Department (SFD) officer Salina Hamdi, the 5-km run is organised in conjunction with the SFD’s 100th anniversary.
“The interesting thing is the medal design (for the Kuching district) will resemble the ‘engkabang jantung’ tree.
“In addition, each of the top 100 participants will also be given seedlings to be planted at the Pustaka area,” she said in a statement yesterday.
She added about 50 per cent of the run tickets have been taken.
Various side activities will be held such as lucky draw, quizzes and aerobics.
The opening ceremony is expected to be officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Members of the public who are interested in participating in the run can contact SFD personnel Ahmad Ashrin at 082-319182.
Registration is RM50.
