KUCHING: What was supposed to be a happy ‘back-to-school’ day for a Form Five student turned tragic today (Jan 20) when he allegedly fell from the third floor of a school building at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Petra Jaya.
Kuching district police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani in confirming this, said the case was being investigated by the police.
He noted that the victim who suffered serious injuries was receiving treatment at SGH’s Accident and Emergency unit and is said to be in a stable condition at press time.
“On Wednesday at about 7am, the police received information that a student had fallen from a building at SMK Petra Jaya.
“The victim was sent to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) in an ambulance from the scene,” he said in a statement.
The 17-year-old victim is a Form Five student in the school’s science stream class.
