KUCHING: Former Armed Forces chief General (retd) Tan Sri Datuk Affendi Buang has expressed his readiness to provide services to the Sarawak government if required.

He conveyed this during a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today (Sept 25).

With his 43 years of experience, he believes he can contribute to his home state in terms of security and military aspects.

“One of the points I discussed with the Premier is that if Sarawak needs help or assistance and advisory services, I am willing to provide my services,” he said.

He handed over his duties to the new Armed Forces chief, General Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman, on Sept 6.

Gen Affendi, who was born in Kuching, was appointed as the 21st Armed Forces chief on Jan 2, 2020, replacing Gen Tan Sri Zulkifli Zainal Abidin.

He is now on leave and will officially conclude his service in February 2024.
