KUCHING: In conjunction with National Journalists Day, the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI) will be organising a national media forum on May 29.
Journalists from Malaysia and several neighbouring countries, including Indonesia, are expected to join the event in Malacca.
Themed ‘IR4.0: Challenges and Opportunities’, the forum will feature six media personalities, namely Tan Sri Johan Jaaffar; Mulia Media Group editor Azlan Jaafar; Jasbant Singh Pratap Singh, editorial director of Free Malaysia Today, former Malaysiakini editor-in-chief/chief executive officer Premesh Chandran and Daily Express senior journalist Hayati Dzulkifli.
A renowned academic in the field of journalism, Prof Datuk Dr Ahmad Murad Merican, will also be invited to be a panel member along with two experienced journalists, Datuk Seri A. Jalil Hamid and Datuk Dr Chamil Wariya, who will act as the forum moderator for the two sessions.
In addition to this, Communications and Multimedia Minister, Tan Sri Annuar Musa is expected to deliver the closing speech while the president of the Malaysia-Indonesia Journalists Association, Datuk Mokhtar Hussain will deliver the welcoming speech.
Meanwhile, MPI general manager (business development) Norlida Jamian said the forum panel members would share their experiences on media business models suitable for the survival of the world of journalism after the digitisation, the emergence of artificial intelligence and the use of robotics in various walks of life, including the field of journalism.
