KUCHING: ECM Libra Foundation on Monday (Jul 6) launched its Asean scholarship programme worth RM15 million to fund 50 students across Asean nations for the 2020/2021 academic year.
The foundation will provide financial assistance in the form of 20 full and 30 partial scholarships to academically and culturally gifted students in Asean countries to attend the prestigious Epsom College in Malaysia (ECiM).
The scholarship will cover school and boarding fees, as well as six return flights a year to and from Kuala Lumpur.
The foundation will provide financial assistance in the form of scholarships to low and middle-income communities that are currently affected by financial pressures from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The initiative will be the first Asean wide scholarship by ECM Libra Foundation aimed at closing the educational gap for the underprivileged in the region.
ECM Libra Foundation co-founder Datuk Lim Kian Onn said the initiative aimed to ensure that no one is left behind in education and hoped it will open doors to deserving Asean students in the region.
“With the extension of the ongoing effort to Asean nations, ECM Libra Foundation hopes that it will be a stepping stone for Asean scholars and foundation to support more students in the region,” he said in a statement on Thursday (July 9).
