SERIAN: Four men were arrested in separate locations for involvement in drug-related activities on Monday (Jan 25).
The suspects, aged between 28 and 49, were nabbed by the district’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) in Kampung Siniawan and Kampung Jaya Ria here.
District police chief DSP Aswandy Anis said the first arrest was made around 7.30am in an unnumbered house in Kampung Siniawan.
Further checks found a plastic packet containing 15 small packets with crystalline substance, believed to be syabu, with an estimated weight of 7.20g in the suspect’s bag.
“At about 8am later, the police arrested another man behind a house in Kampung Jaya Ria.
“Further inspection found a container in the suspect’s pants containing a plastic packet with crystalline substance, believed to be syabu, weighing around 0.30g.
“In the same operation, the police also arrested another two men in both villages (Kampung Siniawan and Kampung Jaya Ria) on suspicion of being involved in drug abuse,” he said, adding that the total market value of the drug seizure is RM1,125.
He said all of the suspects were found to be positive for drugs and taken to Serian NCID office for further action.
The case is being investigated under Sections 39(a)(1), 12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Aswandy added that the police will continue to carry out raids in the district to curb drug abuse activities.
“We urged the community to cooperate with us and do not hesitate to channel information to the police in an effort to curb drug-related activities,” he said.
