Among the items seized from the suspects after they were caught by Indonesian police for trying to smuggle drugs into Long Bawan, Indonesia from Ba’ Kelalan, Lawas.

LAWAS: Four men including an Indonesian were detained by the Indonesian police after they were caught trying to smuggle drugs into the country from Ba’ Kelalan recently.

Lawas District Police chief, DSP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad confirmed receiving a report of the arrests and said the three local men, aged 19, 37 and 41 years, from three villages in Ba’ Kelalan, were detained by the Indonesian police during a check in Lun Bawan in Kalimantan at 4.15pm last Wednesday.

He said besides the trio, an Indonesian man, who was them at that time, was also arrested and taken to Lun Bawan Police Station.

“Initial investigation by the Indonesian police revealed that the suspects were found possessing 12 plastic packets filled with crystalline substance believed to be syabu, weighing 60.2grammes, drug paraphernalia and sharp objects,” he said.

Abang Zainal said he had instructed his men to go to Lun Bawan Police Station to obtain more information about the case.
