MIRI: A total of four wooden bridges along Jalan Tanjong Batu 7 in Pujut have been converted into concrete structures, with one remaining wooden bridge scheduled for replacement next year, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure in the area.
“All four bridges were converted from wooden to concrete. Four are ready, and we have one more to go,” said Minister for Transport Sarawak Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin on Tuesday.
Lee, who is also Senadin assemblyman, was met during a site visit to one of the completed bridges at Tanjong Batu 7 in the area.
The construction of the RM200,000 project (for the Tanjong Batu 7 bridge) started in June this year and was completed in August.
During the site visit to the Tanjong Batu 7 bridge, Lee said the final wooden bridge will be upgraded in the coming year, ensuring that all five bridges in the area will be made of concrete.
“We will build the remaining bridge next year, so that all five will be concrete. This project is included in the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) for the coming year,” Lee added.
The upgrades reflect a broader transformation in the village, with concrete drainage systems and fully tarred roads already in place.
“All facilities in the village have been upgraded,” said Lee, stressing that the new infrastructure will benefit the community by improving safety and accessibility.
With these improvements, Jalan Tanjong Batu 7 is set to become a fully modernised stretch, aligning with the city’s goal of replacing wooden bridges and outdated infrastructure across the region.
