Four dead, four injured in Pan Borneo Highway crash

MIRI: Four persons were confirmed dead and four injured after a car accident occurred at the Miri-Bintulu Pan Borneo Highway (PBH), near Kampung Suai yesterday (Dec 21).

According to Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, further investigations revealed that the accident happened around 12.50pm after two 4WD vehicles collided into each other.

A 29-year-old, driving a Toyota Hilux from Bintulu to Miri lost control and veered to the opposite lane and collided with another 4WD driver, Isuzu D-Max , driven by 55 year old driving from Miri to Bintulu.

Three passengers in the Toyota Hilux car were pronounced dead while the driver and another passenger experienced a broken arm and light injuries.

Another passenger in the Isuzu D-Max was also pronounced dead while the driver and another passenger experienced mild injuries.

“There were four total death victims from the accident ,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
