KUCHING: Four people in a Perodua Kancil, including the driver, were killed while others were seriously injured after their vehicle collided with a lorry yesterday morning at KM52, Jalan Sri Aman/Sarikei. The two were rushed to Sri Aman hospital.
The lorry, which was heading from Sri Aman to Sibu and the Kancil from Sarikei to Sri Aman collided head on at 1.50am.
Sarawak head of Traffic Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said initial investigation showed that the accident occurred in the centre of the road and the lorry driver was driving in the path of the Kancil. The road is straight and there were no street lights.
The deceased are the Kancil driver, Mixzezly Herry, aged unknown from Rh Junting Narong, Engkelili and the
passengers, Roman Ensalit, aged unknown from RH Awing, Engkelili, Agustine Rentap Didi, 19, from Rh Narok Sebeliau, Engkelili and Dunstan Empawie, 29, from Rh Bandang, Engkelili.
The injured victims are from Rh Narok Sebeliau, Engkelili who sustained head injuries and another from Rh Awing Merindun, Engkelili who suffered a broken leg and bodily injuries.
Meanwhile, the lorry driver escaped unhurt.
Alexson said the case is being investigated under reckless driving.
