KOTA SAMARAHAN: Four men suffered injuries after two vehicles collided at KM34, Kota Samarahan-Sadong Jaya road on Saturday.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident occurred around 11.20am, involving three 21-year-olds in a Myvi car and a 39-year-old man in a Proton Wira.
It is learnt that the youths were heading to Sadong Jaya and the older man to Kota Samarahan. The man had attempted to overtake another vehicle, but lost control of his vehicle while in the opposite lane.
“The vehicle driven by one of the youths was trying to avoid the collision but was reportedly rammed by the other vehicle.
“As a result, the vehicle ferrying the youths spun in the middle of the road and the other vehicle crashed into the right side of the road,” Alexson said in a statement.
He added that the 39-year-old man who was trapped in the driver’s seat suffered injuries to his left leg. He was retrieved from the vehicle before it caught fire.
All three youths suffered severe injuries and are being treated at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
The case is being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
