BINTULU: Four persons were killed while one was seriously injured after their car crashed into the back of a parked lorry near the Eco Park Bintulu traffic light here, along the Jalan Samalaju-Miri this morning (Nov 14).

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the injured victim, identified as Brandon Libat, 28, was rushed to Bintulu Hospital for medical treatment.

“The lorry driver managed to escape unharmed,” he said.

The dead victims have been identified as Nelson Harry Kap, 28 (driver); Mapura Anthony Jawi, 28; Langgong Gurang, 30; and Adrian George, 21.

Six firemen from Samalaju station rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 4.24am.

Upon arrival, they found four of the victims trapped inside the car and the other was thrown off the vehicle due to the impact of the crash.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
