SIBU: Four members of a gang of five robbers who were alleged to have committed a series of robberies and housebreaking have finally been caught.
Last March 12 the group robbed the proprietor of an electrical repair shop at Jalan Khoo Peng Loong of RM1,000 in goods and cash.
Sibu police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit told the press yesterday that the arrest of the four men aged between 24 and 38 was made at 10.20pm on Monday at a rented house in Jalan Bako.
“All of them are jobless. Two of them are from Daro, one from Matu and the fourth is a local. Another one is still at large,” he said.
He revealed that the police seized an assortment of items from the suspects including 10 cellphones of various brands, a tablet phone, three laptop computers, two motorcycles, four motorcycle helmets, and a steel box which belongs to an orphanage.
“Two of the suspects admitted committing the robbery at the electrical shop while all the four confessed to committing five counts of housebreaking,” he said.
The suspects are on remand for seven days for investigation under Section 395 of the Penal Code for robbery.
