KOTA SAMARAHAN: Four ordinances had been enacted by the federal government in an effort to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Federal Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the first was the Emergency (Essential Powers) Ordinance 2021 regarding allocating necessary powers to the government to manage the pandemic.

“The second is the Emergency (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021, to provide the necessary provisions to deal with the pandemic more efficiently and effectively.

“The third is the Emergency (Employees Minimum Standards of Housing, Accommodations and Amenities) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021, to improve the management of accommodation for foreign workers.”

Nancy said this when officiating at the Malaysia Prihatin Samarahan Division Programme here on Tuesday (March 30).

The Batang Sadong MP added that the fourth ordinance was the Emergency (Essential Powers) (No. 2) Ordinance 2021, to reduce the spread of fake news on Covid-19 and the Emergency Proclamation.

She stressed that the recent emergency proclamation did not have a direct impact on the lives of Malaysians.

“We can still go out to work and have fun because there is no curfew like the emergency during our time against the communists,” she said, emphasising that economic activities still went on as usual.

However, Nancy said it was necessary for the government to give full focus and effort in dealing with the pandemic to ensure that the country’s economy bounces back as soon as possible.

“Do not be influenced by the accusations and negative perceptions being propagated by some parties who are not responsible for this proclamation of emergency.

“We do not have to fall prey to this unhealthy game by certain parties for their own personal and political gains.”

Also present were Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang and Batang Lupar MP Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim.
