SIBU: Police here arrested four students who were allegedly involved in beating up another student at a car park behind a commercial shop lot last Monday.

Two of them are secondary school students and the others are university students.

Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili in a statement, said they received a police report from a 15-year-old victim at around 8.50 pm claiming that he had been beaten by several students from the same school at a car park along Jalan Intan here.

“Following that, investigations were promptly carried out by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

“Between 9 pm and 11 pm on the same day, the police managed to arrest four students, aged between 14 and 19, at different locations,” he said.

Zulkipli added that they also detected a 50-second video clip of the incident which had gone on social media.

In light of this, the local police chief advised the public not to speculate or share the videos, which may cause disturbance to public harmony and order.

The case is being investigated under Section 506/323 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and for voluntarily causing hurt.
