MIRI: The police successfully detained four men, ages 22 to 50, suspected to be actively involved in a series of car thefts and house break-ins in the city.
The arrests have reportedly led to the resolution of multiple cases related to car thefts and house break-ins, collectively estimated at RM18,000.
Miri Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the suspects were apprehended by the Miri Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on December 27 around 3pm during a raid conducted at a residence in Pujut 8.
The four individuals have been remanded for four days to facilitate further investigation into the case.
Alexson said the suspects’ modus operandi involved targeting unoccupied homes during the midnight and early morning hours when residents were away at work.
“Subsequently, police discovered a stolen dismantled Perodua Viva, inside a bush area along the Permyjaya Bypass road.
“All suspects had previous criminal records for drug related offences and criminal offences and were positive for drugs (Methamphetamine),” said Alexson.
The case is currently under investigation under Section 457 and Section 379A of the Penal Code.
