MUKAH: Four youths are participating in the Social Transformation and Endearing Project (STEP) programme visit to the University of Tokyo, Japan from July 5 to 11.
Their flight was scheduled to depart from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Haneda Airport, Tokyo, Friday (July 5).
Programme director Ahmad Qadri Basri @ Boseri said STEP is managed by Kelab Belia Tunas Rencana and Karisma Boulevard (Trendak) Mukah.
“Among the activities that will be carried out throughout this programme are getting to know international youth, presentations of proposals, studies, cross-cultural exchanges, community service, and educational visits.
“Through this visit, a case study methodology is used to achieve the objective of exploring the youth group from Trendak Club to Tokyo. This helps unravel how prepared Malaysian youth are in facing the current of modernisation, leading to the transformation of social society 5.0,” he said.
Commenting further, Ahmad Qadri stated that the objective of this programme is to bring together leaders and volunteers from Sarawak’s youth groups to support innovation, community, environmental sustainability, and international leadership activities.
Additionally, it aims to create a new value change in social transformation that is expected to impact national identity.
The programme also responds to the Sarawak government’s recommendations in achieving the vision of ‘World Class Youth 2030’ and supports the plan under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 launched by the government to improve social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and optimise assets and human capital.
Apart from Ahmad Qadri, the visit is also attended by Mukah Trendak president and Sarawak Youth Icon winner Lyona Stephen, 2023 Malaysian Prime Minister Youth Award recipient Debbie Gibson Medan, and Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) Science Junior College educator Naiza John Niri.
