Fourth day of SAR for missing woman

PAKAN: The search-and-rescue (SAR) operation for a 63-year-old woman who was reported missing on Nov 14 after she failed to return to her home at Rumah Lingoh, Nanga Engkeraji here has entered its fourth day.

State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the operation today (Nov 18) involved Bomba’s Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Team of Malaysia (Storm), Multi-Skill Team (Must) and police K9 (dog) unit.

The woman, Chemerai Mering, was reported missing by her brother when she failed to return home after she went out to deal with official matters at the Pakan welfare office on Nov 13.

Based on information from the longhouse folk, she could have gone missing in Sungai Marau Salak, Entabai, where they found her belongings such as medicines, clothes, torchlight, toothbrush and bag, which is located about half an hour’s walk from Rumah Lingoh.

To date, the victim is still missing.
