SARATOK: The initiative of the Kalaka Constituency Service Centre to organise a free haircut programme in conjunction with the opening of the school session next week aims to ease the burden of parents.
Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said parents tended to spend more at the beginning of the school session.
According to him, this was because many needs had to be prepared including the cost of cutting their children’s hair.
“If there are not many children, it might not be so burdensome.
“For those with many children, the financial burden is definitely felt. So through our service centre, we provide the opportunity for parents to bring their children for free haircuts.
“Last year we saw many taking advantage of this opportunity with about 120 people. Alhamdulillah, this year is equally great,” he said when asked about the progress of the programme here on Thursday.
Implicitly, community programmes like this provided opportunities for the young leadership of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) to manage an event.
Ahead of the opening of the school session next Monday, Mohamad hoped that all arrangements would go smoothly.
“My message is, make sure the children are sent to school. We do not want anyone to be left behind.
“The main focus as parents is to assist and support every activity in school. It is a commitment to the success of our children.
“To the children, study diligently and persistently to achieve your dreams,” he said.
The programme was conducted by four barbers, namely Affrin Adzuan Khan Radzuan, Mohamad Zairul Kharulnizam Taready, Mohamad Armi Fiqri Arman, and Abang Amreel Loqman Abang Aziz Jafar.
