KUCHING: The Lions Club of Kuching Unity and Persatuan Pembangunan Insan Sarawak (PPIS) will jointly-organise a free medical camp on Saturday, May 18 starting at 10 am – 4 pm, Level 2, Mall 2 Linkway, CityOne Megamall.
According to the press statement, the event will be officiated by Deputy Minister in the Premier Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.
“This medical camp offers a wide range of essential health services, including blood donation, organ pledges, cataract checks, eye/vision tests, dietitian consultations, dental services, reflexology, pap smears, mammograms, mental health services, breast cancer screening, blood pressure checks and diabetes checks,” it said.
The medical camp expects to serve about 200 attendees. The organisers have collaborated with various healthcare organisations and sponsors, including Timberland Medical Center, Hospital Umum Sarawak, Kingdom Pharmacy and others.
Special focus will be providing free pap smears and mammograms for women, with the Sarawak Breast Cancer organisation conducting free breast lump checks.
“Timberland Medical Center will offer blood glucose, BMI, and blood pressure checkups, while the eye clinic will screen for eye diseases, including cataracts. Dental services will include checkups, extractions, and fillings.
“Organ donation pledges will be promoted to help address societal stigma, and blood donors will receive tokens of appreciation. Additionally, there will be educational talks, games, and lucky draws to engage attendees,” stated in the press release.
The event is particularly targeted for B40 and underprivileged families, providing them with a valuable opportunity to access essential health services.
