KUCHING: In conjunction with the World Aids Day which falls every Dec 1, Sarawak Aids Concern Society (SACS) is taking the initiative to provide free human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and sexually transmitted infections (STI) testing.

SACS president Dr Yuwana Podin said the one-day free screening will be held from 9am to 9pm on Dec 3 at their office, Lot 1609, Rock Road.

“There will be no limit on the number of people, but it will be limited in a sense due to lack of space and also in order to maintain privacy,” she told New Sarawak Tribune on Monday (Nov 30).

She encouraged those who want to go for the screening to contact the association at 019-3723173 to arrange for their appointments.

SACS, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) formed on May 19, 1998, conducts advocacy work specifically related to HIV/AIDS in Sarawak.

Its mission is disseminating information on the prevention of HIV/AIDS to the general public and key affected population; to educate the public about the facts and myths regarding HIV/AIDS, to reduce stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS and to provide peer support to people and families living with HIV/AIDS and protect their rights.
