GEDONG: In a special event commemorating its third anniversary, TVS announced the distribution of MYTV decoders to 300 e-Kasih recipients here, as part of the TVS Prihatin programme.

Deputy executive chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of TVS, Kushairi Abang, said that this initiative enables the recipients to access TVS broadcasts free of charge.

The distribution of decoders is also part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, where TVS has been actively assisting the community since its launch in December 2020.

Some of the recipients shared their thoughts with the New Sarawak Tribune.

PENGHULU FRANCIS KUNCHE, 59

We received 80 MYTV decoders. While some areas here already have Njoi and Astro services, others are less fortunate. This initiative is a great step forward, and I hope similar programmes can expand to more rural areas, especially to engage children.

SIMON GAL, 49

As a recipient, I’m happy. The decoder allows me to stay updated with TVS programmes and news, particularly about Gedong.

MALIAH DAUD, 47

I’m delighted to have received the decoder. TVS programmes offer a wealth of information about Sarawak, which I find extremely valuable. While I enjoy local content, I’m also keen on programmes from other areas that could offer new perspectives and ideas for Gedong’s development.

CHOO CHUI SAN, 41

The difference is real. Previously, we had no television or faced frequent blackouts. This free decoder is a boon for Gedong residents, particularly benefiting the children here.
